Geaux Tigers

Since Michael didn't have the week of Thanksgiving off, we couldn't spend the holiday in Kentucky with his family. Fortunately we did get to see his brother and sister and their families here at home, although it wasn't for as much time as we would have liked. Good things did come from us not going to Kentucky since Michael's parents gave us their tickets to the LSU vs. Arkansas game. (And I got to spend time with my sister and her husband since they won't be here for Christmas. And Theo got to play with his new doggie cousin, Nola.)

If you follow college football you know that LSU is not messing around this year to say the least. This was the third game I've ever been to and most definitely the most exciting. We were super nervous, especially when Arkansas scored two touchdowns before we scored. Thankfully the Honey Badger did what he does best and things started looking up for the tigers. Sadly I was just walking out of the bathroom when Tyrann Mathieu decided to return a punt for a touchdown. Then I got lost in the wrong section. It's really hard to find your seat when everyone is wearing the same colors. And I guess being in the wrong section doesn't help. LSU continued to lay down the law. We cheered and I hi-fived a stranger. It was such an awesome game.

I decided we definitely needed a picture of "Baby's First LSU Game" as our child will have no choice but to be a tiger fan.

And there's my reason for being a tiger fan, my handsome husband.

I can't wait til we beat Georgia week, but I'm not looking forward to a rematch with Alabama. That game was rough.

Bieber!

We were considering going to Baton Rouge to play laser tag but the weather was super gross so we went skating instead.

Good thing we did, because look who we saw there-

JUSTIN BIEBER! OMG!

New Orleans

Michael had a two day radiology interview at Ochsner in New Orleans so I went with him and planned to visit a couple friends and my sister.

I have been dying to try macarons from Sucre. They now have a location in Metairie so I met one of my favorite friends there for sweet treats and a lot of catching up. I didn't do so great with getting pics with my friends on this trip. I did get a picture of the raspberry macaron and the king cake macaron.

Michael and I spent the night at another one of my favorite friends' apartment. We had fun cooking together and she prepared for my visit by buying Rose's lime juice and Tito's vodka. Michael was done early on Saturday and we hope to get beignets at Cafe du Monde but the line was atrocious so we ate at Cafe Beignet. We had fun walking around the French Quarter. It was a beautiful day and I can't remember the last time I strolled around there.

Before dropping Michael off at the airport we met my sister at Juan's Flying Burrito on Magazine Street. While waiting for her we checked out the Garden District Needlework Shop which was right across the street. The shop was huge as far as these types of shops go. They had a great selection of yarn but I ended up not buying anything. I really wanted to buy some of the New Orleans themed needlepoint ornament kits but they were pretty pricey.

I think I would love to live in New Orleans if it was safer. We could end up there for residency so I guess I'll train Theo to be an attack dog. Let's just hope we're not robbed by someone using a golf club as a weapon.

Southland Mall

There is a nice putt putt place back at home. I don't know what kind of condition it is currently in, but it was nice when I was in high school. We wanted to play but they were closed so we went to the black light pirate themed putt putt in the mall. It's a pretty crappy course but it was fun nonetheless.

"Please do not touch pirate. He is not real." "Do not scare children with pirate!!!!"

We headed across to the arcade which used to be a really sweet arcade. I was hoping to play "Wacky Gator" and it was still there! It was missing the hammer so I laid down the law with both hands which my friend later told me was cheating.

My niece and I played air hockey.

THEN I WON THE JACKPOT on Cyclone. It was pretty much one of the best moments in my life. The guy working there loved us because we were having so much fun. I don't think anyone has had that much fun there for a while.

My husband and my brother didn't hear my squeals of jackpot delight since they were too busy with this hunting game.

We put all our tickets together and got some really sweet prizes. I got a bracelet, a bouncy ball making kit, and the following:

My niece got a foam rocket that has a rubber band that you use to shoot it. My husband shot it across a large opening in the mall and was fussed by a non-threatening segway riding mall cop. I instantly fell in love with him all over again.

Christmas

I wanted to go caroling in our small neighborhood, but we never had the time. Instead Dad suggested caroling at my grandmother's since she isn't getting out the house much these days.

This is my sister, Kippy Mills- housewife and philanthropist extraordinaire. Perhaps you've heard of her.
Note to self: make a "this side up" arrow on wrong side of finger mustaches.

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

I was hellbent on getting a good family photo since they always turn out like this:

The first one we took turned out really well, I think. Considering that the other 15 look like the previous one.

Theo's present this year was a "dinner plate" from Target which consisted of a squirrel, "green beans", a baked potato, corn on the cob and a dinner roll all served on a frisbee.

Thug life.

Moose on a Ledge

I'm not sure when this game started. It would have to have been at Christmas time because you play the game with the three Russ reindeer (moose). You try to get the moose stuck on the window ledge which is about 12 feet high and then you have to use another moose to knock it down. I'm thinking we didn't have cable at this point. Or it's just because we're silly.

Girls Day in New Orleans

Yesterday the boys played golf so the girls headed to New Orleans for lunch at Mr. B's where we received jingle bells on ribbons. Like every time I have been to Mr. B's it was a fantastic experience. I'm sure I've already talked about it.

White Chocolate Brownie (the ones I make from their recipe are better)

Yes, my mom is lovely, but here I want you to notice the red velvet pants. He also had a black and white houndstooth jacket.

We walked down Royal Street and window shopped the antique stores. We saw some awesome chandeliers and some rather large diamonds.

We tried on hats in Fleur de Paris and I found The Quarter Stitch (on Chartres Street) where I bought some delicious yarn that needs to be made into a popcorn stitch hat. Look how cute they packaged my yarn with ribbons and little pink tissue paper hearts.

The green on the left is from The Yarn Haven in Knoxville

Bayou Santa

Every year Santa drives up the bayou sirens blaring and goes through all the neighborhoods waving and throwing candy to the good girls and boys.

It's pretty much awesome.

My Best Friend's Wedding and Roller Skating

Three weekends ago I went back to the bayou for my best friend's wedding. We had such a great time, she was absolutely beautiful, and I got to see a lot of friends I don't normally get to spend time with when I'm back home.

During the ceremony I had to kneel beside the couple on the altar. It brought back memories of our wedding day and how we, too chatted a little during the ceremony and then exchanged vows. I really can't believe it's been two years already! The lady who made our wedding cake made my friend's cake. So you can imagine the state of euphoria I was in when they cut the cake. Best. cake. ever.

The next day I felt surprisingly well and ready for some roller skating! I was super pumped because it was only $5 and I love to skate. They still have the leather roller skates! Those new bulky plastic ones are so painful.

I had no idea it was my niece's first time roller skating! I was so happy to be a part of the experience.

We did the hokey pokey and we turned ourselves around.

Then my sister and I were the only people to go out for the 13 and over skate race. This is possibly because we were the only ones who were 13 and over. I won and I went to the snack bar to claim my prize- a small orange soda. It was delicious.

I'd say this trip home could definitely be in the running for best trip home EVER. We had so much fun together.
