Cone head

Theo's paws haven't gotten better. In fact they're worse. One of his back paws started bleeding so we had to go to the vet again today. He has an infection on his paws and will have to endure antibiotics, the cone, and getting his paws dipped in a solution for a week. As you may have guessed, he is not very happy. If you weren't happy you'd want to sit on someone, too.

I Hope You're Hungry

Saturday we cooked tilapia with barley, shiitake, and edamame salad. This was from Martha Stewart Living's September issue. It was delicious and inexpensive! Great news because we've been wanting to eat more fish.
This evening we cooked pork chops with sauteed chickpeas, escarole, and apple. This was from the same article. I had a few doubts but it turned out to be scrumptious.

I had my first calligraphy lesson with Davette Leonard. I am taking one-on-one lessons once a week. She is also an artist and her calligraphy is beautiful. She is so nice and even offered me tea at the end of the lesson. It was the first time I tried Earl Grey and I have to say I really like it. It was especially nice getting out of the house. On Friday I went to The Needle Lady to get some questions answered about some yarn I have and about a pattern for a cowl I want to make. I finished reading Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper this afternoon in Barnes and Noble while Michael studied. I would not recommend finishing this book in public as I was fighting back sobs.

Michael left this evening and will be back on Thursday. He'll take his pediatrics shelf on Friday and be off to Roanoke on Monday. This will be his last away rotation. Theo and I cannot wait until October.

I guess I'll talk about my trip home now. Monique and I had a very relaxing "big girl" vacation in Perdido Key. We both read on the beach under an umbrella. We even exercised and ate relatively healthy food.
When I got back to Louisiana I was fortunate enough to spend time with Mimi. We even went to Picadilly! I spent most of my time with my family which is what I had planned. Myriam came in on Friday and Mom and I picked her up from the airport and began the whirlwind of wedding planning. We got to taste wedding cake at Swiss bakery which was one thing I wish I could have done for my own wedding.
Saturday we were back in New Orleans and I skipped out on the second florist meeting to catch up with Amy O. at Starbucks on Magazine Street. I went to a wedding in New Orleans that night with Michael's parents. Two of our friends from high school got married. It was really one of those weddings you see in movies or magazines. Unfortunately I was too busy having fun to take pictures. hehe... The next day I flew home and I believe that's where you found me on my previous post.

The position for the ESL teaching assistant that I applied for has been filled. Tomorrow morning I have a meeting to finish paperwork for a substitute position. Davette is also new to Charlottesville and she was a substitute last year. The school system is using a new automated system this year for substitutes so I'm hoping that will work in my favor since I'm not that well known. The ESL teachers I worked with in the spring were my references so I'm also hoping that helps me. Anthropologie is opening right down the street and they are hiring. We all know that would be a bad idea.

They Grow up so Fast

Monday was Theo's official birthday. Unfortunately for him he had green gunk in his eyes, itchy paws and a pouting human. We went to the vet and luckily we still had the ointment for his eyes. It's probably just an allergy and it cleared up in a couple days. Westies are known to have skin problems and the itchy paws are indicative of an allergy. He's on Benadryl and I bought a tea tree oil/ oatmeal/ and aloe concoction at Petsmart today to help soothe his paws.

Michael came home last night (YAY) and we celebrated Theo's birthday today by taking him to Petsmart where he proceeded to act like he didn't have any manners by going buckwild. After walking through the store to calm down a bit we headed for the toy aisle to pick out a present. Enter Dirty Rotten Kitty.
I like how they both look crazy in that photo. After Petsmart we went to the Downtown Mall to the Dog and Horse Lovers Boutique where Theo was welcome to come in and shop. He loves to shop. The store has an assortment of treats and we found a cupcake treat!
Happy Birthday little noodle. You bring so much joy to our lives (except for those first three months when I mostly cried and considered selling you.)
