22 Weeks

I'm feeling fantastic, and baby must be, too, because there is some serious movement going on in there. I actually saw my belly move on Monday.

Now for a tiny bit of ranting.

Man, maternity clothes shopping is the pits. I'm starting to actually need them- pants especially. I managed to find a few good pieces at Motherhood Maternity. The stuff I ordered online from the Gap didn't fit, and I am crossing my fingers that the items I ordered from Old Navy will fit. Old Navy definitely has the cutest selection, and of course it's really affordable. I am not about to drop $100+ on a shirt at A Pea in the Pod that I will be able to wear for three months. Plus, their stuff isn't any cuter than Motherhood Maternity's. Now I am done with this rant. That is unless the Old Navy clothes don't fit.

Like I said in an earlier post, we started our baby registry last weekend. We went to Target since that's kind of the only place in our hometown to buy baby stuff besides Wal-Mart, but there were about five things in-store that we would have registered for. The only point would have been to give people an option other than shopping online, but they would have had to do that anyway. So we scratched Target and went to Babies R Us. The employees were really helpful getting us started and we had a good time talking about baby things and starting our list. I also registered online at Diapers.com. They have a really great selection, and I'm fairly certain that shipping is free on registry items. Um... awesome! I was glad to get registering out of the way. I had been really nervous about knowing/ not knowing what baby will need.

Speaking of baby, if you happen to look at either registry you'll easily figure out that we're having a boy. The gender neutral stuff is yellow and covered in monkeys and frogs and I couldn't help myself anymore when we got to the dino crib sheets. But, I really did mean it when I said I had that paint color picked out before we found out the gender. Can you imagine pinks or purples or coral with that color for a little girl? It would have been fabulous. Not that I'm not super pumped about a little boy. I'm just saying... the blue is awesome.

In other, more exciting news, the yarn for the baby blanket is in! I am waiting on a yarn ball winder so that I can wind the skeins into center pull balls. Here's a look at the colors for the blanket. I am thrilled with how the orange looks!

Our Glass Kitchen Cabinet- The Remix

When I showed you the kitchen curtain I made, I told you that I wanted to use the fabric on the trim to wallpaper the back of the glass cabinet. Well, four months later, I did it! Is this what they call nesting- finishing old projects and starting new ones?

So here's the cabinet with the doors closed. 

And here's a close-up.

I covered poster board with the fabric, used fabric glue to attach the fabric to the poster, and attached the whole thing to the cabinet with some permanent stick foam tape.

I think it adds a little something to the cabinet, and it ties the purple in from the laundry room.

ACE!

Today we will deviate slightly from our normal postings of cooking, craft projects and all things Theodore.

This is the view from the tee box on #7 at Audubon Golf Course. Why in the middle of his round would Michael take a photo with his phone of the green which clearly doesn't have a ball sitting on it?

You see a pitch mark on the green, but you don't see a ball. This is about the time my heart is pounding.

And there it is folks. My very first hole-in-one. As is the tradition, after my round I went into the clubhouse to buy a round of drinks for everyone to celebrate. Fortunately it was a rainy Tuesday so that round of drinks only included me as the clubhouse was empty.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes

Yes, you read that correctly. Just when I thought the chocolate chip cookie dough amazingness could get any better than the frozen chocolate chip cookie dough balls, Annie's Eats introduces the chocolate chip cookie dough cupcake.

I guess I mentioned at some point that our awful stove's oven was on the fritz. This happened in my first trimester which wasn't a problem because the smell of baking chicken was gross and I didn't want any kind of sweets. I also mostly didn't feel like cooking at all. Anyway, we finally got a new stove last week. Having four burners is awesome. Don't ever take your four burners for granted.

We had friends over for dinner on Saturday and I was excited to bake something. I wanted to try this mousse cake, but I would have had to start in the morning, and we spent a couple hours starting our baby registry. So I decided on these cupcakes, and man, was it a good decision (as you can tell by the label designation of "Go to Your Grave").

The actual cake part tastes like a chocolate chip cookie. Then you fill the cupcake with an eggless chocolate chip cookie dough, and THEN YOU ICE IT WITH ICING THAT TASTES LIKE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE DOUGH! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

They are especially tasty with a glass of milk.

A Mermaid

I already told you that I dropped the ball on Christmas. I had the fabric to make this Mermaid from Wee Wonderfuls for my godchild, but I didn't get around to finishing it until a week ago. I absolutely love her so I'm glad she went to a great home.

21 Weeks

Still feeling great. I got some organizing done in the craft room and am on a roll finishing up crafts in progress. This weekend I think I'm going to finish decorating the kitchen. I just have to attach some fabric to a poster and put it behind the shelves along the back of the glass cabinet on the wall. Does that make sense? It will when you see it. 

I think we'll also start our registry this weekend. That's about all that's going on this week. Besides loving every time I feel the baby move.

Disclaimer

Sorry for the confusion about the paint color I picked. I actually found it a week or so before we found out the baby's gender. I planned to paint it blue either way to avoid having to paint the room in the event our next baby is born while we are still in this house. I'm not a big fan of tons of yellow or green for gender neutral nurseries. 

So that's that. If you do know our secret I hope you keep it. 

In other news, my sister came in from Houston this weekend since Michael was off at a bachelor party. We had a really great girls' weekend, and we got a super sweet deal on a Bumbleride stroller! It's exactly what I wanted, but I thought it would be way out of my price range. One more check off the list of things we'll need for baby.
